There are two ways of connecting to the Jewish past: through nostalgia and by linking oneself to the eternal inner light and energy.
Nostalgia leaves you saddened. After all: the wisdom, sagacity, holiness of the past is no longer. Nostalgia yearns for the past that is gone. The other option is to link yourself and your family to the inner light of Jewish faith and wisdom that binds our people to each other and to G-d. That same light that shone then continues to shine today as seen by the powerful perseverance in the Jewish spirit despite all odds in our generation maybe even much more than in the previous. Celebrate the past by embracing today’s continuing Jewish promise. Rabbi Mendel (Menachem) Bluming and Rabbi Pinson
