If someone came to me and said, "I'll pay you ten thousand dollars to buy your child." What do you think I would reply?
Do you think I sell even one of my children for ten thousand dollars? Absolutely not! So what would you think if they offered a me a hundred thousand dollars? Still no, right? And would that change with a million? Ten million? A BILLION dollars to buy my child? I wouldn't even need a millisecond to think it over. I absolutely would never sell my child for all the money in the world. A child is more treasured than anything else. I thank G-d, our family has a few, alright more than a few :) Yet each one of them makes our family rich beyond measure. Some individuals think children are expensive. Teach your family that creating a future with children is our true wealth. Menachem Mendel Bluming and Rabbi Moss and Chabad.org

The shamash is lit only so its flame can serve, it exists for another. It is content in its role of igniting, illuminating and warming. It is taller then the rest not to rule over them but rather to keep an eye out for them. The shamash’s blaze is not minimized in the process, it is only empowered to shine more light.
Our world needs each of us to act as the shamash to give out light where it’s dark, heat where it’s cold, Torah in a society of confusion. To care, to nurture to reach out. Happy Chanukah! Menachem Mendel Bluming and Chabad.org Menachem Bluming ponders: Think about what makes you angry and what makes you very happy?12/12/2017 Inside the answer to that question is the key to telling so much about who you are and what you value.
Our children can figure out what makes us upset and they absorb from it what to value. “Dad’s BMW, now that is sacred! You even think of putting your shoes on the leather seats and boy will you be sorry…” What makes Dad face glow? Football or values? What makes mom truly happy? What we say to our children (mostly) goes through one ear and out the other (sorry to be the one to break it to you). If important values give you true joy (nachat), if you get angry only over those true important issues, your child will learn volumes from you. Menachem M. Bluming and Chabad.or I didn’t think so. This is because it is beyond the human capability to conceptualize something that has no basis in reality. All human creativity is the product of taking existing ideas and rearranging them, using ingredients that are already in the world and making a new combination. There is nothing completely new under the sun.
Human invention is the mirroring and harnessing of nature. For this reason airplanes are modeled on birds, featuring wings and tails, and automobiles are built like horses, on all fours with two eyes at the front. If you look at every human creation, you will find that nothing is absolutely original. This is true even in the world of fantasy, human imagination can only create characters that somewhat resemble creatures in reality. The weirdest aliens from the outlandish science fiction stories are simply overgrown frogmen or human lizards with big ears. The freakiest space monster looks strikingly similar to a giant sea creature. The wildest imaginations have never been able to dream up an entirely original being. Even fictional characters are rooted on real life. This was also true of the gods of ancient mythology. The Babylonian, Roman, Egyptian, Greek and Mesopotamian deities were all merely exaggerated humans or personifications of forces of nature. It is clear to see how they were man-made, a combination of a human man's fears and hopes and fantasies. All ancient gods, like all inventions made by man, were creative depictions of familiar realities. Only G-d creates true originals we just copy from there (even cloning is just reproducing). You, G-d created; therefore you are a true original! Menachem M. Bluming, Rabbi Moss and Chabad.or |
